School Council 2019-2020
A school council is a means to get pupils involved in the way our school is run and to make improvements. It provides a meaningful way in which pupils can voice their opinions and have their views taken into account in decisions which impact upon them.
This year we ran an election campaign to vote for two new representatives for each class from Years 1 to 6. The children were given a description of the role and made aware that a good representative will speak at the council meetings about things that their class are interested in. They will also tell their class about what is going on in school council meetings. As a result, the interested applicants were asked to prepare a speech highlighting why they wanted to be a school councillor; why their class should vote for them and what they promise to do if elected. They delivered their speeches to the rest of their class last week on our Election day. The response was fantastic and all adults were amazed at the effort the applicants had put into composing and delivering passionate and compelling speeches. The successful candidates were selected by a democratic vote and we are proud to announce the following:
