IQM Award
Millennium Primary School holds the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) Centre of Excellence Award. This award recognises Millennium as a school that demonstrates a strong commitment to outstanding levels of inclusive best practice and our ongoing commitment to developing educational inclusion.
The assessor acknowledged:
Inclusion benefits the whole community at Millennium. Families spoke about how pupils can learn about respecting differences and how they learn too.
Part of the school’s vision is that, “every child will be treated fairly and equally and feel included in a caring community. Children will be proud of who they are and proud to be part of a school that embraces diversity and encourages individuality.” From speaking to the pupils, this is palpable.
Pupils explained how the school has instilled core values and taught them how to treat each other as they want to be treated. They are proud of their diverse and friendly school, where they learn from each other's religion, culture, and disability. One pupil told me, “Nobody is ever mean to me about my neurodiversity. It’s a very diverse and accepting place. It's the way the school teaches us. Some people are different. You shouldn’t be ashamed of it but be proud of it.”
